- How to connect KETTLER via USB or via COM
Kettler ergometers are connected to the computer through serial port (usually older models) or through the USB port. Only VirtualTraining 3.6 and Rouvy Desktop support this communication.
Communication via USB
To make a connection you need just USB cable A-B (see picture) (no more than 3 meters long, longer versions is not recommended). At first, install KETTLER USB driver to your computer. New virtual COM port should be automatically created once installation was done and you plug in the USB cable and turn on the trainer.

After that, you can connect trainer to the Rouvy Desktop App. Read more in the article Connect KETTLER in Desktop.
Communication via COM (serial port RS232)
If your computer has a serial port you need just ordinary serial cable - COM (left picture below). Connect serial ports of computer and ergometer by the cable. The connection of your device with the computer is done.
If your computer doesn‘t have a serial port you need serial cable converting USB to the serial port (COM RS-232), see right picture. Before buying a USB-COM reduction check out if the package contains drivers for your operating system. We recommend reduction with the FTDI chip. The reduction is usually available in shops with electronics. First, install drivers of USB-COM reduction. Installation CD (including installation instructions) is usually included in the package. Alternatively, you can use the links below in the case of FTDI.
