ERG Mode Switch for Workouts

You can now switch the ERG mode on and off during any structured workout, giving you more control over your training.

Look for the ERG mode button in the lower-right corner of your screen during the workout. One click toggles the mode on or off.

Why use ERG mode?

ERG (ergometer) mode helps you stay efficient, focused, and consistent, especially during structured workouts. Here's how:

  • Precise power targeting: ERG mode automatically adjusts your smart trainer's resistance to match the target watts in your workout. That means you don’t have to shift gears or worry about pacing as it holds you right at the power you need to hit your goals.
  • Great for intervals: During short, high-intensity intervals, ERG mode makes sure you're getting the full benefit without over- or under-shooting your effort.
  • Focus on form: With resistance taken care of, you can focus on improving your cadence, posture, and pedal stroke.

Why switch ERG mode off?

While ERG mode is great for precision, there are times you’ll want full control of your pacing, especially for longer efforts or when you're working on ride feel.

  • With ERG mode off, your trainer simulates a steady 1% slope, and you manage your effort manually.
  • The trainer no longer “holds” the target power, giving you a more natural, route-like experience.

This flexibility makes workouts smoother and lets you choose between precision training (for short high-intensity intervals) or a more natural riding feel (control pacing target).

To switch modes, just click the ERG mode button during your workout. This is an easy way to combine precision training with a more natural ride feel, all in one session.
