Start and Finish lines

Start and finish lines

Setting the Start and Finish lines correctly is key to creating a smooth, realistic ride experience. While initial points are defined before upload, they should always be refined during the editing phase for accuracy and flow.

Basic requirements

The initial start and finish positions are automatically set before the route is uploaded.

During editing, you’ll need to fine-tune these positions using the Start & Finish tools to ensure they align with the terrain and video.

Follow these guidelines to ensure proper placement:

  • Flat terrain: Place both start and finish lines on flat sections of the route.
  • Width and visibility: Choose wide sections with at least 0.5 km of clear road around each line.
  • Avoid placing points in:
    • Curves or sharp turns
    • Steep climbs
    • Areas with heavy traffic

Main tools

Use the following tools to set precise positions:

Setting start and finish lines

Place the Start or Finish lines are set exactly at your current cursor position on the timeline.
You can move along the timeline to your desired location.

Click Set here to confirm the start or finish line placement.

Manual distance input

You can define start and finish line positions by entering a specific distance (in meters) from the beginning of the video.

You can adjust the numerical values to fine-tune placement. These values will also determine the final length of the route.

This method is useful when you need precise control or want to match a specific route distance.

Use the timeline

The timeline is your main tool for selecting the best placement.

  • Review the video carefully to find flat, wide, and clearly visible sections.
  • Avoid areas with turns, elevation changes, or visual obstructions.
  • Check that there is enough clear road before and after your start/ finish line.

Use the timeline not just to place points, but to validate that the start and finish feel natural within the flow of the ride.
