A smart trainer or smart bike connects to ROUVY directly, so the app can change the resistance to match the climbs and descents on your route.
To get that, connect it as Controllable when you add it in the app. You can connect via Bluetooth or ANT+, and many newer trainers also support Wi-Fi.
|
Is your trainer on the list? Check Supported Trainers for your brand and model. If your trainer or bike isn't listed, you can still try to connect it, but we can't guarantee it will work smoothly with ROUVY. |
How to connect your smart trainer or smart bike
- Open the ROUVY app and click the Sensors icon in the top right corner.
- Make sure Bluetooth or ANT+ is on and ready to pair: at least one of the icons has to be active (white, with a green dot underneath).
- On the Smart trainer / Smart bike / Power meter tile, click Add trainer.
- Choose your trainer or bike from the list of sensors.
- Connect it as Controllable, so ROUVY can set the resistance based on the route. We highly recommend this.
- If you like, connect it as Cadence too, and connect a chest strap or Apple Watch under Heart rate.
- Click Save and close.
That's it: your trainer is connected. Pick a route and enjoy the ride.
Connecting via Wi-Fi
Many newer trainers from Wahoo, Elite, and Tacx can also connect via Wi-Fi, which tends to be more stable than Bluetooth. You set up Wi-Fi in the manufacturer's app first, then add the trainer in ROUVY. See Connecting your trainer using Wi-Fi for the steps.
Troubleshooting
ROUVY can't find my trainer
Disconnect the trainer from all other apps and devices: it has to be free to pair, and it can connect to only one app at a time. Then update its firmware in the manufacturer's app. If it still doesn't show up, these articles walk you through the next steps:
The resistance doesn't change on climbs
Check that your trainer is connected as Controllable on the sensors screen. Without it, ROUVY reads your data but can't change the resistance.
My power looks too high or too low
Calibrate your trainer and make sure its firmware is up to date. See Calibration for how.
