A Club Challenge is a team competition between clubs: your club splits 50 routes between its members, rides them together, and competes with other clubs on a leaderboard.
You can't win this one alone. Each member can pick only a few routes, so the club has to agree on who rides what, and the club chat is where that happens. It's built for active clubs that enjoy a shared goal and a bit of rivalry.
Club Challenges run regularly, and there's nothing to sign up for: your club takes part once it has at least 13 members and picks at least 40 of the 50 routes during the preparation week. Between challenges, the Club Challenge tab on your club page counts down to the next one.
|
Who can take part Club Challenges are for club members, and your club needs at least 13 members to take part. If you're not in a club yet, join one to get started. You can be a member of one club at a time. To learn how to find, join, or create a club, see Clubs. Club Challenges aren't available to riders under 18. You may still see the challenge in the app, but riders under 18 can't join a club, so they can't take part. You'll find the challenge in the Club Challenge tab on your club page and in the Challenges tab of the ROUVY app. It also shows up in other places around the app, such as the Social tab in the Companion App. |
How a Club Challenge works
Every Club Challenge runs in three phases: a preparation week, a month of riding, and the final results.
When you open a Club Challenge for the first time, a short How it works sheet sums up the rules. The checklist on the challenge page then shows your next step in each phase.
1. Preparation (1 week)
The challenge shows a list of 50 routes.
- Your club decides who rides which routes, and each member picks up to 4 of them. Picking is first come, first served.
- Until the week ends, you can release a route and pick another one, so it's the time to swap routes around until the split works for everyone.
- You don't have to use all 4 slots: if you can only ride 2 routes, pick 2.
2. Riding (1 month)
Ride the routes you've picked. Your club's goal is to complete all 50 routes before the riding phase ends.
When you open the challenge for the first time in this phase, a Time to ride pop-up lists your routes so you can start right away. You can open the same list later with Ride now.
If some routes are still free, any member with an unused slot can pick them and ride them too. Once you've ridden all your routes, the checklist asks you to motivate the others: the routes that are left belong to your club mates' slots.
3. Final results
When the riding phase ends, the final leaderboard shows how the clubs ranked, and rewards go out to members.
Your club's results stay on the challenge page for about a week before the next challenge takes over.
Picking routes
Picking a route reserves it for you.
A route counts only if you picked it before you rode it, so pick first, then ride.
- To pick a route, tap Pick on its card in the route list.
- Tap the card itself to open the route detail.
Each member can pick up to 4 routes.
That limit is what makes the challenge a team effort: 13 members with 4 routes each give your club enough slots to cover all 50.
|
During the preparation week, your club has to pick at least 40 of the 50 routes to move on to the riding phase. When it reaches 40, a message in the club chat lets everyone know your club is in. |
What changes when riding starts
Once the riding phase starts, you can't release your routes yourself.
- Only the club owner can release a member's route, for example when someone can't ride anymore or isn't responding.
- A released route goes back to the list, and another member with a free slot can pick it. A route that's already been ridden can't be released.
Planning in the club chat
You can pick and release routes in the ROUVY app and in the ROUVY Companion App.
The rides themselves happen in the ROUVY app.
The club chat keeps everyone up to date: it shows when a route is released, when a member finishes a route, and when your club reaches a milestone.
During the preparation week, you can also poke a club mate who hasn't picked their routes yet. They get a notification, and the reminder shows up only in their own club chat.
When members join or leave
New members can join while the challenge is running. They get the same 4 slots as everyone else and can pick any route that's still free.
If a member leaves the club, the routes they've already completed still count for the club. Routes they picked but didn't ride go back to the list for others to pick.
How to take part
- Make sure you're in a club with at least 13 members.
- Open the Club Challenge tab on your club page and read the rules.
- During the preparation week, agree on the split with your club in the club chat.
- Pick up to 4 routes in the ROUVY app or the Companion App.
- Once riding starts, ride each of your picked routes to the finish at 100% reality level.
- Follow your club's progress and the leaderboard on the challenge page.
Which rides count
|
A ride counts when
A route you didn't pick doesn't count, even if it's still free, so pick it first if you have a slot left. Each route counts once for your club: the first completion by the member who picked it marks the route as done. |
The usual challenge rules apply:
- A route ridden inside a Group Ride doesn't count, even for the leader. To learn more, see ROUVY Group Rides.
- A route ridden in a race does count, so you can race a challenge route together with your club mates.
- Drafting and riding the route with Pace Partners are fine too.
- Ride the route in one go, without moving your position on the map. The full list of rules is in Challenges.
The 50 routes are often the same ones used in other challenges running at that time, so one ride can count toward both.
If a ride doesn't pass activity validation, it won't count toward the challenge.
To see why that can happen, see Activity validation: why a ride didn't count. If you think your ride was flagged by mistake, contact us and we'll look into it.
Leaderboards
|
Inside your club, you see:
|
Other clubs see only how many routes your club has completed, never who rode what.
How the clubs are ranked:
- While the challenge runs, the challenge leaderboard ranks the clubs by the number of routes finished.
- The final ranking goes by total riding time across the 50 routes, so the faster your club rides, the higher it finishes.
You'll find the leaderboard on the challenge page in the app. After the challenge ends, See results opens the full results on Riders Portal.
Rewards
You earn rewards for your own rides and for what your club achieves together. To see them in the app, tap Win Club rewards on the challenge page.
- For each route you ride: the usual Coins and Experience Points (XP), plus bonus XP for riding it as part of the Club Challenge. The bonus is the same for every rider and shows on the route card.
- Club Points for your club: every finished route adds Club Points to your club's total, and completing the whole challenge adds more. The challenge shows the most your club can earn.
- When your club completes all 50 routes: every member who rode at least one of the routes gets the same amount of Coins.
Club Points can't be spent. They work like XP for your club and show on your club page. To learn more about Coins and XP, see Coins and Experience.
Troubleshooting
I can't pick a route ▶
You may already have 4 routes picked, or someone else got there first. Ask in the club chat: someone may be happy to swap during the preparation week. In the riding phase, only the club owner can release a picked route.
Our club can't take part ▶
Your club needs at least 13 members, and at least 40 routes picked by the end of the preparation week. If the preparation week ended before your club got there, you'll sit this challenge out, and the challenge page tells you so. Invite more riders and plan your picks early for the next one.
My route didn't count ▶
To count, the route has to be picked by you, ridden to the finish at 100% reality level during the riding phase, and ridden on its own rather than inside a Group Ride. If one of those tripped you up, no worries: if the challenge is still running, you can ride the route again.
I rode a free route, but it didn't count ▶
A route counts only for the member who picked it. If you still have a free slot, pick the route first, then ride it. If you've used all 4 slots, the routes left are for your club mates.
If something still looks wrong, contact our support team and include your club name, the name of the route, and the date of the ride.
