Pace Partners

Pace Partners help you stay on track by riding alongside someone who matches your effort.

Whether you want a steady power target, the best possible draft, or a past performance to chase, Pace Partners give you flexible ways to ride on your schedule, at your pace.

You can add or change Pace Partners before and during the ride, up to 10 at a time.

There are three types of Pace Partners:

Drafting Pace Partners

Drafting Pace Partners always ride slightly ahead of you, designed to maximize your drafting benefit throughout the entire ride.

Instead of matching a power target or a past time, they hold a position just in front of you so you stay in their slipstream from start to finish.

This option is ideal if you want to focus on the aerodynamic advantage of riding in a group and keep that benefit for the whole route.

Pacing Pace Partners

Pacing Pace Partners match your average power and keep the ride competitive but supportive.

Their custom target power now follows the terrain profile, so they adapt their effort to the route (easing on climbs and pushing on descents) rather than simply matching your speed.

How they work:

  • Their default power (W/kg) is calculated for you automatically.
  • You can adjust the target W/kg manually to increase or decrease the challenge.
  • Average speed and ETA are now displayed clearly, so it's easier to dial in the right partner before you start.
  • They help you hold a more consistent pace within defined training zones.
  • You can draft behind them realistically, with proper aerodynamic effects within the group.
  • They use the same bike setup as you, so performance stays consistent.

Pacing Pace Partners adapt to your pace during the ride.
If you fall behind, they wait, so you're never left alone. If you overtake them, they keep riding at their target power, which means you can drop them.

This option is ideal if you want a steady, motivating partner who adapts to your effort and keeps the experience smooth and supportive.

User Pace Partners

User Pace Partners let you ride against a real rider's previous performance on the same route.

Previously known as Virtual Partners, this feature helps you compare your current ride with your personal best, your friends' top times, or other riders' performances.

You can filter Pace Partners by time (in the required format), power, or a specific username. Results are always sorted by the smallest deviation from the time or power you searched for, so the closest match appears first.

How they work:

  • You select a rider who has already completed the route.
  • Historic user passes can now be filtered by finish time, so it's quicker to find a partner that matches your target pace.
  • The partner follows the original ride metrics exactly.
  • Drafting and adaptive behavior are disabled.
  • They use the same bike setup as the original rider.
  • If you fall behind, they continue at their original pace.

This option is ideal if you want to compare your performance to your friends' results and measure your progress directly against past performances.

Pace Partners are visible in the nearby list and are marked with a "Pace partner" label, both in the nearby list and on a name label above the rider.
