Coins and Experience

In ROUVY you progress through your Career by gaining Experience, and you collect Coins to spend on customizing your avatar.

This article explains the difference between the two, the ways to earn both, and what they are good for.

The difference between coins and experience

The difference is simple:

• EXPERIENCE points move you forward in your ROUVY Career, and you can earn them outside ROUVY too;
• COINS are spent on customizing your avatar.

You can see both your Coins and your Career level right on the dashboard.

For the details of your XP and Career progression, click your icon in the top-left corner and then click Profile. This opens your Career overview.

In the top-right corner you can see how many Coins you have collected.

How to get coins and experience

You earn Experience for everything you ride in ROUVY: routes, races, group rides, challenges and workouts alike. Watch the experience counter on the right of the screen as you ride.

Experience also comes from two places outside the app:

• outdoor rides recorded with the STRAVA app and imported into ROUVY. They earn Career XP, though they do not count towards weekly goals, your training score or indoor challenges: more in ROUVY and STRAVA Troubleshooting;
• rides on Zwift, once you have connected the two accounts. XP is the only thing the two platforms share, and it works in both directions: see ROUVY and Zwift.

You earn Coins for riding a route, for a workout of any type, including FTP tests, and for events, both group rides and races.

The reward is shown on the route tile before you start.

Coins are earned per kilometre, so you keep what you ride even if you stop before the finish.

If you leave a route early, you can come back at any time and earn the rest. When you restart the same route, you can resume from your last completed point, with the remaining distance and the remaining coin reward shown.

• there is no minimum distance: coins are calculated proportionally to the distance you complete;
• progress is tracked per rider and per route, and synced across all your sessions and devices;
• once you finish the remaining distance, the rest of the coins are granted and the route is marked as completed;
• finishing a route in one session gives no extra reward beyond the total coin value of that route.

Coins for events calculation

For official ROUVY events the coin reward is fixed and shown directly on the event tile.

For rider-created events the reward depends on how many people turn up, so the tile shows an upper limit rather than a fixed number. It is calculated like this:

Completion coins

additional coins based on the number of riders who started the event
