Races and group rides now have their own search in the ROUVY app.
You no longer have to scroll through the lanes on the Events screen hoping to spot the one you want.
This article shows you where the search lives, how to narrow the results down, and how to read what you find.
Where to Find Event Search
Open Events in the left-hand menu of the app. The Events screen starts with the events we recommend for you, and three tiles underneath:
- Search events: the search screen this article is about.
- Event invitations: events other riders have invited you to. The tile tells you how many are waiting.
- Create event: opens your Riders portal in a browser, because events are still created on the web.
Below the tiles you will still find Upcoming events and the other lanes, so browsing works exactly as before.
Searching for an Event
Start typing in the Search events field at the top of the screen. The results update as you type, so you can find an event by a single word from its name without knowing the full title.
This is the quickest way in when you already know what you are after: a race series, a club ride, or an event a friend told you about.
Quick filters
The row of buttons under the search field narrows the list down with a single click. They work together with whatever you have typed, and they stay on until you switch them off.
Upcoming |
Everything that has not started yet, soonest first. This one is on by default, so the screen always opens on what you could still join. |
Tomorrow |
Only events starting tomorrow. Useful when you are planning the next day rather than looking for something to ride right now. |
Joined |
Only the events you have already signed up for, so you can check what you have committed to and when. |
Race |
Only races: competitive events with a start list and results. |
Group Ride |
Only group rides: social rides where you ride together rather than against each other. |
The Filters panel
Click Filters, on the left of the same row, for the full set of options. The panel slides in from the right and holds four groups.
Date and time |
The same Upcoming and Tomorrow buttons as outside the panel, plus a From and To range with its own date and time fields. Use the range when you know exactly when you are free: a Saturday morning, or the two hours you have this evening. |
Categories |
Official: events organized by ROUVY, rather than by riders and clubs. Joined: events you have already signed up for. Smart Trainers Only: events that require a smart trainer. Leave it off to also see events any trainer can ride. Non-Drafting: events where drafting is switched off, so you cannot shelter behind the rider in front of you. |
Event types |
Race and Group Ride, exactly as in the quick filter row. |
Author |
Friends shows events created by riders on your friends list, and Me shows the ones you created yourself. There is also a Search for an author field, so you can follow one particular organizer without knowing the names of their events. |
Click Show results to apply everything you picked, or Clear to start over.
Reading the Results
Every event comes back as a card, and the card already answers most of what you need to know.
Countdown |
How long until the event starts, in minutes, hours or days, so you do not have to convert a start time into your own time zone. |
Distance and elevation |
The route the event is ridden on, with its elevation profile drawn along the bottom of the card. |
Riders signed up |
How many riders have joined so far. On a rider-created event this number is worth watching: it feeds into the Coins everyone gets. |
Coins |
What the event is worth. Official ROUVY events show an exact figure, because their reward is fixed. Rider-created events show Up to a number instead: you get the coins for completing the route plus a bonus that grows with the number of riders who start. The full table is in Coins and Experience. |
The badges on a card
The small labels in the corner of the card are the event's rules, and they are worth a glance before you sign up.
OFFICIAL |
Organized by ROUVY. Anything without this badge was created by a rider or a club. |
SMART TRAINERS or ALL TRAINERS |
Which trainers may take part. Smart trainers means a controllable trainer is required, while all trainers means any setup is welcome, including a classic trainer with a speed sensor. |
NO DRAFTING |
Drafting is switched off for this event, so sitting on a wheel gives you nothing and every rider pays the full price for their own speed. |
RACE or GROUP RIDE |
The type of the event, always shown last. |
Opening an Event
Click a card to open the event itself. The event page repeats the badges and adds what the card had no room for:
- the exact start time with its time zone, next to the countdown;
- the organizer of the event;
- the event route, which you can open to see the route in full;
- the elevation profile of the whole route, with the segments marked along it.
The big yellow button is your next step. On an event that is still some way off it reads Join event, and once the start is close it becomes Start warm-up, so you can spin your legs up instead of sitting and waiting.
Next to it you may find up to three round buttons:
- watch ride to follow the event instead of taking part,
- download route to have it ready in advance, and
- start list to see who has signed up.
Not every event offers all three.

Joined an event? Put it in your calendar Events start at a fixed time and do not wait for anyone. You can add any ROUVY event to your own calendar instead of relying on memory: see How to Add a ROUVY Event to Your Calendar. It is also worth downloading the route beforehand, so a slow connection on the day cannot keep you off the start line. |
If You Cannot Find an Event
A few things are worth checking before you give up:
- Clear the filters. This is the most common reason by far: the filters stay on while you type, so a search for a group ride comes back empty while Race is still selected. Clear in the Filters panel resets everything at once.
- Try a shorter word. Event names are written by their organizers and are full of series numbers, stage numbers and punctuation, so one distinctive word works better than the whole title.
- Check that the event has not already started. Upcoming only shows what is still ahead.
- Update your app. Event search arrived in release 4.7, so an older version does not have it at all.
