Long-term challenge: Great World Adventure (GWA)

Morocco, India, and Patagonia: three destinations, one winter-long challenge.

The Great World Adventure runs from October 12, 2026 to January 3, 2027. A new stage opens every week, so you can ride your way across three continents at a steady pace through the colder months.

The stages are designed to be accessible, so you don't need to be a strong climber to finish the challenge. If you want something harder, each destination also has its own route challenges in different difficulty levels.

One challenge, three destinations

The challenge has 11 stages, split into three blocks. Each block takes you to a new part of the world:

  • Morocco (October 12 - November 8, stages 1-4): desert roads, Berber villages, and the high passes of the Atlas Mountains.
  • India (November 9 - December 6, stages 5-8): Himalayan passes, the valleys of Ladakh, and high-altitude lakes.
  • Patagonia (December 7, 2026 - January 3, 2027, stages 9-11): gravel, glaciers, and lakes across Chile and Argentina.

Each destination opens with a Kick Off event on the Tuesday of its first week: October 13 for Morocco, November 10 for India, and December 8 for Patagonia.

The Patagonia block has 3 stages over 4 weeks. The extra week is there on purpose, so you can catch up over the holidays.

Key features

  • 11 stages over 12 weeks: stages unlock one by one, about one per week.
  • Join anytime: start whenever you're ready and catch up at your own pace.
  • Track your progress: follow your journey in the challenge tile in the ROUVY app or on the web.
  • Events and races: Kick Off events for each destination, a Racing Series that runs through the whole challenge, and Group Rides for stages 1 and 2.
  • Route challenges: full-length routes in each destination, in different difficulty levels.
  • Weekly rewards: destination kits and socks, Coins, XP, and virtual gear from our partners.

How to participate

1. Join the challenge

  • Log in to your ROUVY account.
  • Find Great World Adventure in the Challenges tab, or use this direct link.
  • Click Join challenge.
Make sure you've joined the challenge before you ride, so your rides count.

2. Ride the routes

  • A new stage unlocks every week.
  • Check your challenge tile to see which routes are available.
  • Ride each route to the finish. A partial ride doesn't count.

Catching up on earlier stages

You can ride any unlocked stage, including earlier ones, until the challenge ends on January 3, 2027. If you're catching up, ideally ride the stages in their release order so each ride counts.

3. Collect your rewards

  • You get a reward right after you finish each stage.
  • Which rewards you get depends on your subscription.

Challenge rewards

Every rider gets a standard reward for each completed stage, and yearly subscribers also get an upgraded reward.

Reward rules:

  • You need to ride the full route to get the reward.
  • The reward is added to your account as soon as you finish.
  • You can go back to earlier stages to claim rewards you missed.

Upgrading during the challenge

If you switch to a yearly subscription while the challenge is running, you'll automatically receive the upgraded rewards for the stages you've already completed.

Kits and socks change how your avatar looks, and the wheelsets and bikes go to your bike setup.

To learn how to equip them, see Customize your Avatars' Appearance and Customize your Frame and Wheels. For Coins and XP, see Coins and Experience.

Route challenges in each destination

The long-term challenge stages use shorter sections of each destination's routes. To ride the routes in full, take on the route challenges. Each destination has its own, in different difficulty levels, and they run alongside the 11 stages.

For how route challenges work in general, see Challenges.

Events and races

Each destination starts with a Kick Off event on a Tuesday: October 13, November 10, and December 8.

Group Rides take place during stages 1 and 2. You'll find them and the Kick Off events in the event search in the app. To learn more, see Event search in the ROUVY app, Races, and ROUVY Group Rides.

A Racing Series also runs through the whole challenge. To see the schedule and sign up, open the Racing Series page.

If a stage doesn't show as completed

Most often, the route wasn't ridden to the finish or the ride happened before you joined the challenge.

Check that you've joined and ridden the full route. The general rules for when a ride counts toward a challenge are in Challenges.

If your progress still looks wrong, contact our support team and include the date of the ride and the name of the route.
