ACHIEVEMENTS

Badges you collect along the way to mark what you have accomplished. More badges are awarded as your distance ridden, calories burned and metres climbed add up.

More about achievements here.

AVATAR

The figure that represents you on the route. You can change its jersey, gender and skin colour, and real-world physics applies to it too: your avatar leans into corners and turns.

More about avatar customization here.

CAREER

Your cycling career path in ROUVY. Everyone starts at a lower level, and the more you ride and train, the more experience you earn and the further you progress.

More about ROUVY Career here.

CHALLENGE

A competitive event made up of several routes to be completed within a set period. Join the challenge first, then ride. Completing it earns you bonus coins and other rewards.

More about challenges here.

COINS

Riders collect coins for completing routes. The amount for each route is shown on the route tile, and coins are spent on customizing your avatar.

More about coins here.

COMPANION APP

A mobile app that works alongside the main ROUVY App. From the saddle you can control your ride, switch cameras, and select and start routes on your phone.

More about the Companion App here.

DRAFTING

Riding close behind another rider moving at the same speed. Drafting reduces the effort needed to keep up.

More about drafting here.

ENHANCED

A tag on routes whose video has been remastered: higher clarity, smoother playback when you change speed, a higher frame rate, and fewer artifacts. Look for the ENHANCED badge on the route tile, or use the Enhanced filter in route search.

More about route tags here.

ETA

Estimated Time of Arrival: how long the app expects you to need for the rest of the route or workout, based on your current speed, your intensity and the route profile. Useful for pacing.

EVENTS

Planned occasions that happen at a set time. ROUVY events come in categories such as group rides and races. Any user can organize one and make it public or private.

How to create a race or a group ride.

EXPERIENCE

Experience points (XP) move you forward in your ROUVY Career. You earn them for riding: races, challenges, workouts, group rides, imported outdoor activities, and rides on Zwift once your accounts are connected.

More about XP and coins here.

FTP

Functional Threshold Power: the highest average power you can hold for roughly an hour, measured in watts.

More about FTP here.

GHOST RIDERS

Riders you can add so you are not alone on the route. You can have up to 10 of them.

More about ghost riders here.

GROUP RIDES

Several cyclists riding together cooperatively. Drafting is what makes a group ride work: everyone saves energy.

More about group rides here.

HIDE OTHER USERS

A setting that hides every other rider on the route except your ghost riders. Switch it on or off in the app settings.

LIVE RIDERS

Real people riding ROUVY at the same time as you. The route tile shows how many are on that route right now, and you will also meet them in group rides and races.

MULTI-LAP

Setting a route video to repeat a given number of times, which turns a normal route into a criterium. Available to official event organizers, and users can create a multi-lap event too.

NEARBY LIST

The list of riders close to you during the ride, on the left of the screen. It shows their names, power, career level and how far they are from you.

PACE UNITS

How fast you are moving per kilometre or per mile, depending on the units you use.

PANORAMIC VIEW

A wide, unobstructed view that takes in the scenery in every direction. Routes shot this way are marked in the route catalogue.

REALITY LEVEL

How much of the real gradient your trainer reproduces. The default is 100%, which is the real load. Set it below 100% for an easier ride, above 100% for a harder one. At 150% you get one and a half times the load, at 50% you get half.

Note that riding below 100% keeps your ride out of leaderboards and challenges. More in Unified Riding Mode.

RIDE LATER

A collection where you save routes you want to come back to. Add a route from its detail screen, reorder the list as you like, and the route drops out of the list once you have ridden it.

RIDE NEXT

When you finish a route, ROUVY offers another one so you can keep going without getting off the bike.

More in Unified Riding Mode.

ROAD AND TIME TRIAL BIKES

A road bike is slower on the flat and easier uphill. A time trial (TT) bike is fast on the flat, slower on the climbs, and heavier. TT records are marked TT.

ROUTE TYPES

Routes differ in what you see while you ride. Most have your avatar and other riders drawn into real video. Video only routes have the video but no avatars. Map routes, also called GPX routes, have no video and are ridden on a map.

The AR and 2K labels are no longer used. Everything about the current types and tags is here.

SPLIT

Predefined points on a route that tell you how your time compares with other riders. Every route has its own splits, and you can turn them off in the app settings.

TELEPORT

Moving your position forward to another point on the route without riding the distance in between. It works only while a ride is running, and it affects segments, challenges and coins.

More about teleport here.

TRAINING LOAD

How demanding a single ride was on your body. It is calculated for every activity longer than five minutes, combining intensity and duration, with harder efforts counting for more than easy spinning.

The most accurate Training Load comes from power data. Without power we estimate it from energy expenditure, which is helpful but less precise.

Individual Training Loads feed into your Training Score.

TRAINING SCORE

Your long-term fitness, built from the Training Load of your recent indoor and outdoor rides.

It weighs intensity and duration, so hard efforts matter more than easy ones and very long sessions do not raise the score in a straight line. Training Load reflects one ride; Training Score shows how your rides add up.

TSS

Training Stress Score: a measure of how much stress a ride put on your body, calculated from Normalized Power, Intensity Factor and duration. It is what makes training plans plannable, since an estimated TSS lets you project Chronic Training Load, Acute Training Load and Training Stress Balance.

More about TSS here.

UI SCALE

A setting that enlarges or reduces the text on screen, which matters most if you find the default hard to read. Choose 150% for the largest text. It lives in the app settings.

VIRTUAL PARTNERS

Riders you can add when nobody live is on your route. You can even add yourself and race against your own previous ride.

More about virtual partners here.

WATCH MODE

A mode built for watching races rather than riding them. You need the ROUVY App and a ROUVY account to log in.

More about watch mode here.

WORKOUTS

Structured training, one of the most efficient ways to improve your fitness or hit a training goal, short or long term.

More about workouts here.
