Discovering Virtual Routes on ROUVY

ROUVY offers an extensive and constantly evolving catalogue of virtual routes that brings the real world indoors.

Whether you're training for a specific goal, exploring new places, or just looking for a scenic ride, the ROUVY route library has something for you.

What Are Virtual Routes?

Virtual routes on ROUVY are real-world cycling roads enhanced by the augmented reality features, such as objects and avatars. Each route combines:

  • Real HD video footage of the road shot on location;
  • 3D avatars and objects for cycling immersion;
  • Real route data (elevation profile, slope, length, etc.) synced to your trainer.

This gives you the most realistic indoor cycling experience, wherever you are.

How to Access Virtual Routes

To use ROUVY fully, consider buying a ROUVY subscription.

Multiple plan options are available for individuals, couples, and groups. Learn more about each plan here, and check out ROUVY pricing here.

ROUVY offers a free 7-day trial to new users. More info is here.

You can use ROUVY for free without a subscription but you are limited to 20km per month. Create a ROUVY account and use a free 7-day trial first.

You can browse and ride routes through:

  • The ROUVY App: Click on the Routes section in the left-side menu of your dashboard.
  • The ROUVY Riders Portal: Log in to your Riders Portal on ROUVY.com and choose the Routes section in the top navigation bar. Learn more about the Riders Portal in this article.

Filters and Search

All ROUVY routes are divided into AR and non-AR:

  • AR routes are recognizable when you see your avatar. The route tile is marked with the AR badge.
  • Non-AR routes are routes with real video without 3D animation and without avatars.
Please note that map-only routes are no longer available.

All the routes are discoverable both on the Riders Portal and in the ROUVY app.

  • You can use filters to narrow the route selection down by multiple features, such as distance, elevation, grade, time, terrain, scenery, and even some specific tags. More info is below.

  • Using the ROUVY map search on Riders Portal makes it easier to search for the route by country. Read more on the topic in this article.

  • You can also save favorite routes into the Favourites folder to bookmark them for easier access later. When searching for a route from a particular challenge tile, your Favorite and Downloaded routes will be at the top for easier access.

Route Filtering Tips

To get the most relevant results when browsing routes:

  • Use the filters in the app or website to narrow your selection:
    • Distance: e.g., < 20 km for short rides.
    • Elevation Gain: e.g., < 300 m for flat routes.
    • Country/Region: if you want to explore specific areas.
    • Route Type: like Climb, Scenic, or Challenge.
    • Duration, and more.
  • Search by name if you’re looking for something specific, such as “Alpe d’Huez” or “Lake Tahoe Loop”
  • Search by author, if you want to find someone's specific route, especially if it was created using our ROUVY Route Creator.
  • Use tags like "event", "climb", or "coastal" for quick category filtering.
  • Search through our Route Collections.
Our Route Collections are themed groups of virtual cycling routes that share a common location, event, or challenge. They let you explore multiple rides in a connected series—perfect for discovering new regions, preparing for races, or following a training plan with a clear progression.

Route Collections

ROUVY routes are grouped into Collections to help you find the perfect ride for your goals and mood. All route collections are available both in the ROUVY App and in your Riders Portal.

  • Click on the Routes tab in the top bar on Riders Portal to see all the Collections. Or, use this direct link.
  • In the ROUVY App, click Routes in the left-hand menu to see all the available collections. The collections in the app and on the web are the same.

Route Tile

Each route tile gives you a clear overview of what to expect.
You see a preview of each route on the tile with the most crucial information:

  • distance,
  • elevation gain,
  • estimated time,
  • the amount of coins for completing the route.

Clicking on the tile will open a more detailed preview of the route, giving you more information on what to expect, including:

  • The author of the route. Official ROUVY routes have "ROUVY" as an author.
  • Distance, elevation gain, and estimated time needed for the route.
  • The amount of coins you get for completing the route.
  • Button for starting the ride, managing the ride setup, adding the route as favourite, and downloading it.
  • Some route stats, including country, average grade, elevation, maximum slope, video quality of the route, the route's rating (out of 5 stars), and the online riders count.
  • A video preview of the ride.
  • Similar routes.

This way, you can always choose the best ride for you.
